JULIET JEWETT

Welcome
About JJ

You Can Call Me  J J

Thank you for dropping in. I'm elated you're here! Born and raised in South Jersey in the competitive dance scene, I now live in, once again, New Jersey - by way of Manhattan, Naples, FL, Washington, DC, and the Berkshires, MA. I found my way into theatres in each locale, as well as Florence, Italy for one incredible summer. I earned my BFA in Drama with Honors in Theatre Studies from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, studying at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, The Classical Studio, and Stonestreet Studios. For my honors, I wrote a thesis on the intersection of Commedia dell'Arte and Balanchine's Harlequinade. I'm interested in the distinction between performing and being, as something of an ontologist. I'm also an actor, stage manager, production manager, office manager, and more. Phew! I wear many hats.

Hang yours and stay awhile.

let me introduce me to you

born late enough in june

to almost have been july

i got a juillet keepsake

with shakespeare spelling

discovered poetry when

i learned i could dance

luckily i gained vocabulary

through the dirt and the sky

here, sun-blind, moon-wide

roaming the grassy planet

my words become home

still blooming, now let’s grow

All my love,

 Juliet

New Musical Alert!

July - August 2023

I am the rehearsal ASM on a musical debuting at Berkshire Theatre Festival, August-September 2023. On Cedar Street is adapted from the novel Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf, with a book written by Emily Mann, music by Lucy Simon and Carmel Dean, and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead. Our cast and creative team are simply the best. Don't miss this moving piece!

Berkshire Theatre Group

July 2021

One year after Berkshire Theatre Group's renowned production of Godspell, they produced a fuller summer season in which I was lucky enough to participate as the AEA ASM for The Importance of Being Earnest. It was a joy to spend this time back in the theatre, having pivoted during rehearsals from potentially having an outdoor (read: under-a-tent) run.

Folger Shakespeare Library

March 2020

I finished as Folger Theatre's 2019-2020 season AEA ASM, working on 1 Henry IV, Amadeus, and The Merry Wives of Windsor. This was the last season for a few years (because of renovations!) in the library's space. I enjoyed seeing friends in and around Folger Theatre's next production, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the National Building Museum in 2022.

In TheatreZone's 13th season, I performed in Me and My Girl and The Secret Garden (ask me about being the arch master). For the productions of Copacabana and Baby, I joined Actors' Equity Association as the ASM. Throughout the whole season, I was also the Assistant to the Production Manager.

In TheatreZone's 14th season, I continued in my role as Assistant to the Production Manager, and as the AEA ASM for the season. I threw on my actor hat to perform in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, as well as a revue event featuring Rupert Holmes, of "The Piña Colada Song" fame, as a guest star.

Brevard Music Center Summers

August 2018

I had the great pleasure of returning to Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina this past summer, this time as the Purchasing Agent. Last summer of '17, I had the honor of being the House Manager (see photo). Though the patrons and I both missed my bell-ringing duties, I happily stepped into this new role behind a steering wheel, spreadsheets, and phone calls.

Tough One

October 2016

A good friend and fellow artist Yeujia Low created another beautiful dance piece called Tough One, set to her performance of Philip Glass' Mad Rush. I'll follow her anywhere, she's that incredible.

We performed at Triskelion Arts in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Check out these reviews!
